...It's a lot more chaotic compared to the discussions back on the ship. [ they're pinching the bridge of their nose a little, a bit exasperated. ] But the idea is it's just... the one, right?
I asked Ruby if the points a team gets for an Erasure are something teams who don't could compete with. She... made it sound like it would be really, really unlikely. So...
During my loops, discussions would happen daily. So we were constantly putting it to a vote on who to put into cold sleep next until we were able to catch all the Gnosia. And oftentimes, we weren't always right.
[ so, in comparison to that-- ] ...I consider us very fortunate that we were able to catch who did it tonight. More so that it is only just the one... for this week, anyways.
[ but they do seem to be considering what she says, the points for Erasure. ]
[ getting it right is definitely better than the alternative, but she really doesn't like condemning someone to erasure even if it's for the erasure they committed... well, anyway, ]
Sorry, this is like - you don't have to talk about this now if you don't want to. Today was already a lot. But what do you mean loops?
[ sometimes, that's just how it goes, and quite frankly Setsu believes this is the way it should be. so they don't seem to be bothered by the results of it. they've simply just... accepted this is how it is. ]
I don't mind talking about it. Since I'm sure Jonas has already shared some details with you, and from what I know... [ ...well. ] In any case, I refer to time loops. My fate is deeply intertwined with something that forces me into them, and it is not something that I can simply escape from. Not easily.
[ they glance down towards their own pockets. after all, during trial that has been something they have refused to explain and share with everyone. ]
The "Silver Key." [ from their pockets, they hold up... this. ] ...It's a parasite and has affixed onto me as its host. The only way to escape it is to meet its conditions in gathering information, since that is what it consumes.
[ their gaze remains on the transparent cube in their hand, the thing inside of it glowing a little. ] And I can't meet its requirements while here.
[ there's no reply right away. rather, there's probably a notable moment of silence. they grip the silver key with both their hands, lips pressing together as they consider. obviously, they could say nothing. they could refuse to say it, but. considering everything that's happened so far here... they weigh the options and come to a decision.
it's personal, yes. but consequently in the end... it's fine if it's something Alex comes to know. or even Jonas. to better understand them. ]
Someone saved my life. If not for them, I wouldn't still be alive. [ their head tilts a little. ] Which, may not mean much, if we consider that we're only here because we've died in the first place.
But, I wouldn't have gone through everything that I did on that cruise if I had died that day. I wouldn't be who I am right now.
[ alex listens to this and kind of. shifts her weight a bit, thinking about it. she appreciates setsu telling her, since she knows they didn't have to. but she's not quite tactful enough to say that part.
instead, the part that she wonders about: ]
Do they want you to repay that debt? [ or are they deciding on their own that it needs to be repaid? ]
I can't really speak for them. [ it also depends on the player... since they Can mention the debts. but it doesn't really sound like a no coming from Setsu if because ]
Repaying that debt should help break them out of their own time loops.
It's a bit of a special case. Since they sorta have their own Silver Key. Unfortunately, our time loops aren't in sync... I could meet them on their third loop but actually be on my one hundred and fifty-ninth loop.
Well, once the Silver Key is activated, it travels with its host through parallel universes, rewinding time... sometimes, you run into universes that are extremely unstable, and on the brink of collapsing.
...Not to mention that once a loop ends, it's essentially gone. [ and you just move on to the next. again. and again. ]
They're generally different. Sometimes the people aboard are different, and the roles we end up with, and an event can happen that hasn't been in any of the previous loops.
[ the exhaustion feels more real the more they talk about it, especially after today. ]
week 0: saturday

But there... is a way out? What's causing them?

... Well. Once we get you home. Then you'll be able to, right?

That's the thought, but I don't know. ..Which is fine. I have a debt to repay, and once I do, I can just deal with whatever comes after.

[ she asks this very gently, but that does not make it any less nosy. ]

Possibly. It starts to sorta blend after a while. [ ...they say, but they don't actually sound uncertain about the numbers. ]

We, uh. We can drop this for now. If you want.
... Thanks for telling me.
no subject
Of course. [ after all, there's a possibility that...
... ] Thanks for listening.
