Well... both, really. Whether this is another world, a different plane, or some kind of illusory pocket dimension... that's one question I don't have an answer to.

And on the other hand, this entire city is so strange and... well, huge.

You mean you've been to a city like this before?

There are. Like, it would be normal for all those shadow people wandering around to just be other people.

Amazing... And the technology here is so advanced, too! That must be how they're able to have so many people living so close together...

It feels normal to me, but... Yeah, I guess it's—probably advanced to some people?

So you're not used to cell phones and stuff?

Not at all. [A little sheepish.] I didn't think anything like this was possible without magic...

I always figured magic would make this stuff less impressive.

[saillune]

[She shakes her head.] It's much more impressive when it's something everyone can use! That's the sort of thing that can really change the world... much more than magic can.

[camena]

I don't know about that. But I guess it depends on the magic. Which... we don't have where I'm from.

So what sort of magic is there?

[saillune]

Well... there's white magic, which is mostly healing and protective spells, and black magic, which draws on powers of darkness and negativity for offensive spells, and shamanism, which are spells that draw on the elemental energies found in nature and spirits.

Those are the main three kinds!

Can you use any of them?

[saillune]

I can use all of them, in fact!

I trained as a priestess, so my specialty is white magic... but my sister taught me some offensive magic when I was little, and it's come in handy enough times that I still practice it!

[camena]

Aaah! That's so cool!

What sort of stuff have you used it for? I wanna hear magic stories!

[saillune]

Oh, I have so many! I often used it to fight demons while I was traveling.

[camena]

Yes. Most people go their whole lives without seeing one, but when I felt there were dark forces at work in the world, I just had to go out to fight them!

The common kinds are lesser demons and brass demons... monstrous creatures that can be dispatched with a good spirit blast. But pure demons... they're on a whole other level.

[camena]

Well... kind of! I had to return to my duties back home for a bit, but I recently started traveling again!

It's mostly duties to my country and my family...

Grandpa's really sick right now, so Daddy and I have to step up and help out with a lot of things!
