No, they'll probably apologize for making you worry about their clothes, assure you they're perfectly fine with what they have, and say they would prefer you're comfortable instead.

[ it's a little dry but...kind of more forgiving because that is just setsu. ]

Oh yeah? What'd they have to say...?

I didn't pry too much, but... Like, that it's different each time, I guess?

Yeah. The way they explained it to me was like...every time a loop starts, there's a new set of conditions before the loop ends. The loops aren't the same length each time, but...they're also the only person who really knows they're looping at all.

... But there is someone else looping. Someone else with a Silver Key, even if they aren't in sync.

[ his shoulders drop a little at that. ]

Okay, so they did tell you. I didn't want to make it more complicated by mentioning it. Did they explain what the key thing does?

No, yeah, I—it's not like I expect you to tell me things that Setsu tells you in confidence.

[ hmm. ]

Sort of. Like they said it was a parasite that gathers information. And it rewinds time and travels with them to parallel universes.

[ nodding because yeah, that's about what he learned from them. ]

After hearing all of that...it kind of felt dumb to tell them about the island. [ the island was traumatic and he's still Not Cool with what happened and what they saw and did there but like. he can acknowledge that is a little more fucked up. ]

... Mm, you think so?

I don't know, it was kind of a bad time to be talking, so I didn't want to bug them too much. [ so she didn't say anything about her own situation, but... she thought about it. it seemed similar enough. ]

Maybe? [ he's not sure. he still thinks it's probably more of an alex area of expertise given how things ended, but he doesn't really say much on it. ] When things settle down though they'd probably like to hear about it. I think they like knowing.

[ just like. knowing stuff in general, he means. ]

[ alex thinks that it might just be burdening setsu with kind of depressing information if she told them. but she can't really say that because she hasn't told jonas about what makes it depressing and doesn't want to.

but she's kind of bad at direct lies, so her voice goes very stilted. ]

[ yes amazing how jonas thinks the way he does when he doesn't know important information, alex. but he kind of just assumes he maybe picked a bad dialogue option here and just sort of shrugs it off. ]

...it can be later. I think we have enough problems to worry about right now without getting into other stuff if we don't need to or want to.

[ he goes quiet at that. it's probably fine to let the subject drop and linger on something else anyway, and for a little while they're walking in silence. ]

...anyway, Froggystyle. Besides them being funny, you really think they're a good team to keep in contact with?

I do. Ylfa and Gerard are—stronger than they seem, I think, and I like them both. Rin and Haru seem pretty normal like we are, but I like both of them too.

And I mean, they went out of their way, trying to keep us from being at a disadvantage. They didn't have to do that.

[ nodding along with her assessment. ]

Gerard's the one I know the least right now. But I've talked to the others a couple of times. I agree though they really...really didn't have to try and help us and give us a heads up. I mean even though we already knew it, it's not like any of the other teams are talking about it.

Ylfa and I kind of agreed to share some information if we happen to get it from the reapers, too. And it's kind of...nice? Just to talk to Rin and Haru.

It's weird to think about what other teams are talking about behind closed doors.

... But yeah. Same here—it's been cool talking to people from other worlds, but it's not bad talking to people who are a little more, like, grounded. I don't think I know any of them that well yet. But I like what I've gotten to know.

Yeah. I mean it's a competition so it...makes sense that we're never going to know the full truth of stuff. But I'd love to know the conversation that led up to the first message.

A lot of the worlds out there are pretty crazy. Even the ones that sound like Earth always have some weird thing going on, but it's...not like that with those two. Or even Kazuki, really. I guess the good thing is we still have some more time to get to know all of them better.

We'll probably never get to find out.

[ h..... and she looks down at her hands to start listing off with her fingers. these aren't all earth-like worlds but: ]

Nahida's a literal god. Kyoko's world has crazy advanced sentient AI. Two people are swords. One planet has two suns. Valerie hunts ghosts. And I don't even know what's going on with Netzach and he's tried to explain it to me like five times. It's all totally insane.

[ they won't...but we will at unlocks. it's a good think kaveh told jonas nahida was a god literally on friday or he'd feel stupid. some of these he knows. other ones he doesn't. and it kind of says something how alex gets different information from the same group of people as he does. ]

Libby's world has a bunch of witches, including her. I'm pretty sure D has a magical pet shop of a questionable variety that I'm not asking more questions about since it doesn't matter here too much. There're people who're from really, really backwards times. Like centuries. And I'm pretty sure Rang's not human but I can't figure out what exactly he is yet. So, uh, yeah. Insane is a really good word for all of this stuff.

[ belatedly, he realizes his mistake. ]

She called herself a physicist, but it's definitely magic. There's also naturalists and stuff like that. [ digging in his brain... ] I'm pretty sure they're actually called "medeians" and not witches, but it's the same thing.
