Virtual Reality. It's like a big illusion and apparently it can recreate pretty much whatever around you. It's not real, but you can kind of simulate it for a while.
[ nyoom off they go to the vr room. when their headsets are on there's a brief flicker of the bottom of the fucking ocean before it settles on the beach at night. there are some towels and a bonfire and a cooler! a big staircase leading up to a gated mansion. and a little ways away, a fence blocking off the mouth of a cave. ]

This is Edward's Island. It's just a ferry ride away from home, so I came here a lot as a kid.
Yeah, like, nature is always dangerous. Sleeper waves and stuff can happen any time and people can get lost in the woods. But if you're careful they're like, fine or whatever.

We tuned into something, and it basically—this is like the short version—it let them out? They tried to possess my friends. Spent the whole night, just, terrorizing us and haunting us. Ghost stuff, you know?
There's a lot of, uh, speaking through whoever they've got a hold on. And a lot of stupid riddles and games. It's like dealing with children, except children that can mess with the flow of time and reality.
