[where's alex? she's around after the announcement anywhere. just very, very sad.]

[ a little while after - long enough to shower and change after canal-swimming - alex is at the park. sitting on a swing and just idly rocking back and forth. a classic teen sulking spot.

the emotions are Bad but she's trying to keep a lid on them for ylfa's sake. though she isn't very good at it. ]

[she will go sit on a swing nearby. she doesn't have to hide her feelings from ylfa. she's sad, too.]

Alex. It's so unfair, isn't it?

It is.

Especially after he—like, he helped us. When he didn't need to. He shared information. It feels calculated and I... hate that. [ she does sort of trail off because she realizes she maybe should not just think out loud to a sad kid. ]

[she responds immediately, looking up at alex.]

He helped us. He made sure we found the right person last week.

And this is the payback for it. [ if his team loses one more person... ]

Do you think he was killed because of that? [it's not a suspicion she hasn't had.] It's possible.

No, I don't know. Maybe. I think it's more likely someone is just... trying to eliminate a whole team. One that would have been ahead.

Yeah. I was worried somebody would think about that.

I'm worried about Matsui.

...Me too. I think Matsui is the type of person who has a hard time knowing what to do without people to care about.

Yeah, that's—that's not something I know how to... help with. I don't know if anyone can.

No. I think hopefully he'll find a reason.

Sorry, I'm—really not good at this. [ dealing with people dying and talking to people in the aftermath. she feels like she should be better at it. somehow. ]

[she didn't really realize alex was trying to make her feel better.]

[ it's more like trying not to make things worse rather than trying to make things better. but she doesn't feel like she's managing that very well. and actually she gives up at explaining. ]
