They wouldn't recognise me.

A lot's changed in six years.

I'm a stranger to 'em now, and they'd be happier off that way.

[ He gets that Alex is trying to help, in her own sort of way, with her mundane life that also isn't actually that mundane given off of what little I know about Oxenfree the hit game that I just bought last night on Steam and am also eyeing the Switch version of the sequel as we speak. ]

[ Wow! I am into cult tropes honestly, let's goooo. ]

Some people, you're better off just having memories of 'em.

[ Huh. ]

...

Friend of yours?

[ It doesn't... seem like a bad, or sensitive memory, but what does he know? ]

[ Brown haired Alex feels so fake in his world... ]

Sounds like you two are close.

[ Past tense... ]

Sounds like things changed.

[ It's phrased in a way that Alex doesn't have to give more information if she doesn't want to. ]

[ Oh, shit. Damn, that's actually way worse than he was expecting. ]

...Sorry to hear that.

[ Drowning by death is not a typical thing that happens on his planet for like, obvious reasons, but he hears it isn't pleasant... not that he's going to say that out loud. That makes it so much worse that she found Rin's body though help? ]

He seemed like a great guy.

[ A year ago. Based on the form of the memory, it... sounds like maybe he never got that chance to leave like he wanted. He wonders if this is an assumption he should be able to make, because he feels like asking about it seems a bit too personal. ]

Sounds like an ace. Really...

[ He finds it hard to really approach this in a honest way, because in the grand scheme of things, he is the Michael in this equation. Which is... hilarious... given he got adopted out by the Eye of Michael... touches the ground. I'm glad we both got to go 'lmao' at the 'what do you think of when you hear Michael' question on the survey. ]

I'm sorry.

[ That's really all he thinks he can offer, as meaningless as it is. ]

A year's nothin'.

You don't gotta get over it just 'cause the world tells you you need to.

Family's important.

[ He's really bad at comforting, but he is a good listener. ]

Different people got different ways of grieving. Seen it a lot personally -- 'cause I do a lot of services when asked, and a whole lot of 'em tend to be funerals.

Some people can't handle bein' sad for so long. Nobody wants to be. Haven't met a person like that yet.
