[ Vash is here to Touch Grass, ogling the VR equipment with some scrutiny. ]

You played with the VR stuff yet?

[ okay kind of a stupid question with how he's looking at it, but... still. ]

[piteous]

[ Putting on the headset. ]

Nope! But it reads like... More realistic holograms? And some extra sensory features.

[camena]

Hey.

Yeah, it's pretty above and beyond what's possible where I'm from. Wanna show me something cool? [ she'll put on a headset too! ]

[piteous]

Suuure! Buckle up.

[ He's going to see if the VR can latch onto his thoughts. What they can see is a giant chamber in what she can discern as some giant sci-fi spaceship. Along the walls are pods in which she can see they're people sleeping in them, glass frosty.

They're on a platform, a dock. Here's a visual. ]

[ ohhhh... ]

Where is this? The—ships that came to pick everyone up? [ or... ]

[piteous]

Colony ship I was born in.

[ There are two simulated boys also on the dock. One is just Vash but as a little tyke—geled hair still a thing unlike current Vash without hair gel in reap2. The other looks uncannily similar to him, though different haircut in a shade lighter. They're holding onto the railing, simply looking out to the pods, and do not move at all.

Vash only gives these simulated twins a glance before looking around again. ]

Wish I got to see the earth ship, though. It must have been grander than this.

[camena]

[ hm. she is giving a lingering look at the projection of those kids... but pulls her attention back to vash eventually. ]

You didn't get to see it? I thought you said it, like, got there early or something...?

[piteous]

They did! But I didn't get to board the ship yet.

[ Rubs his neck awkwardly. ]

I ended up here, so...

[camena]

[ she winces a little. ]

Right. Sorry.

[piteous]

Don't worry about it! I'm just glad they came early. Dunno how long humans would have lasted on No Man's Land if they didn't.

[ Hands up and they both wave to gesture it's all good. ]

Anywaaaaay, this is the Cold Sleep Chamber.

[camena]

Yeah, it sounds like things were... rough.

Huh. And um. [ her attention drifts again. ] The kids...?

[piteous]

That's me and my brother! Or, well, it was me and my brother.

Think you can tell us apart?

[camena]

I think so?

[ she taps her cheek under one eye. vash has a birthmark! ]

[piteous]

Very sharp of you, Alex.

[ He nods, but points to the other eye where there's nothing there. ]

He has one, too, but under the other eye.

[camena]

... Like mirror images.

[piteous]

Yeah, we used to be inseparable.

[ Vash looks fondly on the two boys... And it looks like the boys are attempting to go on their way, holding their hands, but they're weirdly glitchy because mods said can't simulate people well.

A woman shows up at the end of the hall, accepting these glitchy children, and them three glitch together into the void. ]

I don't know if you wanted to see other parts of the ship.

[camena]

[ she watches them and kind of. grimaces a little at the glitching, but then turns her attention back to vash. ]

Yeah, I wanna see whatever I can. It's cool, there's nothing like this where I'm from.

[piteous]

I wonder if we can get to the pilot room and maybe drive this around...

[ THAT DOES NOT SOUND SAFE. It's okay, it's a simulation.

Vash will start wandering, but of course he remembers the layout. ]

[camena]

[ she follows along! ]

It's all just fake, so... I don't see why you couldn't.

[piteous]

Then let's see if we can blast some asteroids to make sure the other colony ships can sail without a hitch!

[ He leads to what looks like the main control center of the ship. There are several seats, but Vash takes the one at the front with the view of vast space. Twinkling stars are in the distance and nearby is a large orange-ish planet. ]

Did you want to drive or shoot?

[camena]

Shoot, definitely.

[ she'll go drop into another seat and inspect whatever is in front of her! ]

Just like video games, probably.

[piteous]

[ There are some levels and stuff, but there is a joystick and labeled buttons for different types of incendiary. There are regular laser pew pews... Missiles... Proton blasters which are just larger laser pew pews. Many things. ]

... I have very little experience in driving anything, so I'm going to rely on your video game skills.

[camena]

Really? Not even cars?

[ her video skills are... average... so i'm sure this will go fine. ]

[piteous]

... Just a motorcycle every once in a while because Wolfwood needed sleep.

[ When you have to take driving shifts, but anyway they are starting their space adventure. INCOMING ASTEROIDS. ]
